Bennet, Wiens lead fundraising in U.S. Senate race; Buck is third among Republicans
On the Republican side, former lieutenant governor Jane Norton raised about $551,000. Republican businessman Tom Wiens told The Denver Post he raised about $725,000, but the newspaper couldn't immediately verify that sum. Weld County District Attorney Ken Buck said he raised $39,850.

Politico: Wiens: Norton's just a name
High name recognition can be helpful to almost any candidate in a competitive campaign, but Colorado Senate hopeful Tom Wiens thinks it's the singular reason behind former Lt. Gov. Jane Norton's advantage in the contest to take on Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet. That's because in the Centennial State, the Norton name is a GOP institution. Besides the Senate candidate, there's Jane Norton's husband, Tom, a former U.S. attorney; former Interior Secretary Gale Norton, who served as state attorney general; former state Senate President Tom Norton; and University of Northern Colorado President Kay Norton.

The Hill: FEC reports show Senate primaries growing tighter
It's going to be a fun primary season, if Senate fundraising reports are any indication. The money chase in several major races tightened in the fourth quarter, paving the way for competitive intra-party contests that will determine much of what happens in November.

A letter from Tom
When I decided to run for the U.S. Senate I did so to represent the Forgotten Americans, the ones Washington, DC special interests take for granted. GOP Senate candidates aim fire at Washington
Wiens, who entered the race last week, took a subtle dig at Norton, the frontrunner, by bringing up 2005's Referendum C, which suspended the Taxpayer's Bill of Rights for five years. It caused a major fissure in the Republican Party, and Wiens noted that he didn't support it.

The Forgotten Americans right here in Colorado, that's who I'm running to represent. If you feel that your government has forgotten you, I am here to tell you that there is a better way. It is still within our power to send people to Washington who will fight FOR you, not take FROM you. With the help of the people of Colorado, we can make that happen.
